Heritage Cell, MAKAUT to Inaugurate its First Newsletter at Book Fair

The Heritage Cell of MAKAUT, WB has published a Newsletter showcasing its activities like achievements, course works, publications, important lectures, student visits and other academic works of this Cell. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of MAKAUT Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra will release this Newsletter at the International Kolkata Book Fair in the presence of Dr. Phanikanta Mishra, the Director of Heritage Cell.
In fact, the publication of the Newsletter has been possible because of the active guidance of Prof. Maitra, who inspired the Heritage Cell to bring to light all this effort. The Chief Editor of the Newsletter Dr. Phanikanta Mishra has helped in every step to frame and design the Newsletter.
MAKAUT, WB has established its own Heritage Cell to investigate and research archaeological activities and heritage management. It is headed by Dr. Phanikanta Mishra as the Director. He is the Ex-Regional Director of the Archaeological Survey of India. The purpose of the Heritage Cell, MAKAUT, and this Newsletter is to highlight the importance of preserving India’s rich heritage and create awareness about it among the younger generation, who will take the lead in the future in conserving our glorious past.
About MAKAUT: The University came into operation formally with the assumption of the office of the first Vice Chancellor on January 15, 2001 as a sequel to the promulgation of THE WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY ACT, 2001, under West Bengal Act XV of 2000 passed by the West Bengal Legislature. The University started its academic programme, from July 16, 2001 following a Notification from the Department of Higher Education; Government of West Bengal dated June 15, 2001 through the affiliation of Engineering and Management Institutions / Colleges and has entered the eighteen years of its functioning. The University is included in Section 2F and also in Section 12B of UGC and recipient of UGC Grant. The University wants to grow nurturing innovative / novel ideas that would touch all segments of the society especially the marginalized ones. We look at technology from a broad social perspective and are organizing postgraduate courses in basic and applied sciences. The University has introduced new courses in emerging areas to develop, enhance and higher education.
