The 63-year-old longevity specialist claimed that Dr. Mark Hyman doesn’t look or act his age and that, as a result of years of perfecting his daily routine, his biological age (determined by markers of cellular health) is 43.

Hyman claimed that after getting up at 6 am, the first thing he does each morning is to meditate for 20 minutes.

He then takes a sip of his morning coffee before sitting down to write.

There is evidence that both behaviors promote life. Coffee is associated with a reduced chance of diseases like dementia and heart disease. and offers an abundance of antioxidants and plant-based chemicals that promote health. Stress, a significant factor in how rapidly we age, can be reduced and mental health can be improved through meditation.

Exercises that focus on strength are crucial components of a healthy aging regimen.

After his coffee, Hyman engages in resistance band strength training, which he claims has helped him gain muscle and lessen back discomfort.

According to research, strength training in any quantity can lower health risks. Although using weights is an excellent way to build strength, resistance bands can be a handy, portable alternative if you’re on the go or don’t have access to a gym.

Hyman said he works out for about 30 minutes in the morning, but he prefers to stay active throughout the day by doing things like biking or hiking.

Hyman uses a steam shower and a cold plunge after his morning exercise, submerging himself for three minutes in water that is 40 degrees. According to some research, contact with heat and cold may lessen inflammation and boost metabolism.

His nutritious meal for older people is high in protein and full of nutrients.

Hyman refuels with a healthy aging shake, which he describes as a combination of plant nutrients and healthy fats from ingredients like berries, chia seeds, and hemp seeds, after his morning exercise.

Adding whey protein powder to his shake gives him the additional 48 grams of protein he needs to sustain and grow his muscle.

He previously disclosed to Insider that he adheres to a pegan diet, a mix of paleo and veganism that primarily emphasizes whole, plant-based foods.

Creatine, for the health of his muscles and intellect, is a part of Hyman’s supplement regimen, he claimed. He also consumes a unique form of C15:0, a newly discovered fatty acid that has been related to increased energy, better sleep, and reduced stress.

Dietary changes, along with increased physical activity, can be among the simplest changes to make for improved health for people who don’t already have a longevity routine.
