Independence and National Day of Bangladesh celebrated in Kolkata

Independence and National Day of Bangladesh was celebrated in Kolkata on   28th March and 29th March 2023 by Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. 

Independence of Bangladesh was declared on 26 March 1971.The Independence Day of Bangladesh is celebrated on 26 March when Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the Independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan.

On 28th March , Nobonita Chowdhury famed singer & public orator  of  Bangladesh gave solo performance at ICCR Kolkata. Nobonita Chowdhury performed folk songs from different regions of Bangladesh. She sang songs of Rabindranath Tagore, Lalon Fakir, Hasan Raja Abbasuddin Ahmed and also narrated stories around each song. The performance by Nobonita Chowdhury showcased beauty , strength , and philosophy of folk of Bangladesh. The musical concert  was attended by Janab Andalib Elias Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Kolkata and other diplomats and other staff members of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata , Ms. Minakshi Misra Head and Zonal Director of ICCR Kolkata , top Diplomatic representatives of Russia in Kolkata and other dignitaries. 

On 29th March 2023 , Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Janab Andalib Elias hosted ” Reception” to celebrate Independence and National Day of Bangladesh at ITC Sonar Hotel in Kolkata. 

Janab Andalib Elias addressed the august gathering and informed the guests about historical journey of growth  path of Bangladesh since its inception and its futuristic outlook. 

National Anthem of India and Bangladesh were played. 

Additional Chief Secretary of Government of West Bengal representing Indian side spoke on historical connections between people of Bangladesh and India . 

Nobonita Chowdhury also enthralled the audience with her mellifluous voice. 

Consul General of United States, Consul General of Thailand, Consul General of Australia, Consul General of China, Consul General of Japan, Honorary Consul of Norway, Consul General of Nepal, Consul General of Germany, Acting Deputy High Commissioner of UK ,other members of various diplomatic missions in Kolkata, several top Government officials of Government of West Bengal as well as Government of India including Ms. Minakshi Misra Head and Zonal Director of ICCR Kolkata,  Vice Chancellors of several universities, Industrialists, Members and Representatives of various Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata , President of Calcutta Press Club, a large number of senior journalists and media professionals , members of erstwhile Royal families of Bengal , large number of top educationists , Education Officer of Indian Museum , musicians and artists from different creative performance arts attend the Reception. Many guests attending the celebration echoed the spirit of ” Joy Bangla , Joy Bangabondhu , Long Live India Bangladesh Friendship…. Jai Hind. “
