A devotional Homage to Prabhu Jagannath with a scintillating Odissi by Kalajyoti and Odissi Guru Ms Monalisa Ghosh,On the occasion of 52nd Rathyatra Celebration, Iskcon organized 6th Gundicha Festival, at TAI Brigade Parade Ground beginning from 21st till 27th June, 2023.
On the first half of the sixth day (26th of June) of the Gundicha Dance Festival, Internationally renowned Odissi exponent and Guru Smt. Monalisa Ghosh along with her disciples of Kalajyoti Gurukul offered a meticulously crafted Odissi for the transcendental pleasure of Their Lordships Jagannath, Baladev, Shubhadra Maharani and Shudarshan Dev. They presented two items from ‘Geeta Govindam’.
The devotional ambience , was vibrating with the ashtapadi ‘ Srita Kamala Kucha Mandala’ where 25 dancers approached the sacred throne where Lord Jagannath, Balaram and Subhadra Maharani were seated . The dancers were clad in saffron giving impression of a joyful surrender for the Lord.
Dasavtar followed . Devotees were mesmerized by the outstanding choreography of Guru Monalisa Ghosh, where arduous stances describing the various Avatar of Lord Vishnu were executed with excellent coordination and ease. Performers were Suvojit Dutta, Raju Mishra, Somsuvra Dasgupta, Akash Sardar, Atasi Biswas, Tanusree Neogi, Srijita Das, Meghamala Ghoshal and Simran Chakraborty. The powerful choreography was presented
by the dancers with appropriate energy.
Second item of Kalajyoti was Ashtapadi ‘ lalita Labanga Lata’ which began with magnificient and graceful portrayal of Sri Radha by Monalisa Ghosh herself. Her heart touching abhinaya as Radha accompanied by senior Odissi exponent of the city, Sri Arnab Bandyopadhyay, as Sri Krishna, conjured up the essence of Vrindavan at the Gundicha Temple. Afrina Nasrin and Sanchita Sen joined the other performers as Sakhis. The colorful and romantic atmosphere of spring with Sri Radha, and Sri Krishna joyfully playing Holi won the heart of the audience.
The recital ended with chanting Hari Bol by the devotees along with the dancer, a memorable presentation to be cherished.
