In a heartwarming turn of events, the dream of a ‘pukka’ house for Mujibur Rahman Mazumdar in Hailakandi, Assam, transformed into reality just a day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma approved a Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) house during his visit to the district. This remarkable gesture underscores the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens and ensuring that their basic housing needs are met.
During his visit to Hailakandi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma displayed not only his dedication to public service but also his compassion for the people he represents. In an unforgettable moment, CM Sarma was seen cradling Majibur Rehman in his arms, promising him a house and pledging that construction would commence in just two days.
Remarkably, within a mere 24 hours, Mujibur Rahman Mazumdar’s dream of owning a home began to take shape. Construction materials arrived at his residence, and he was able to lay the foundation stone for his long-awaited dream house.
This swift action was a testament to the commitment of Himanta Biswa Sarma’s administration to the welfare of its citizens. As directed by the Chief Minister, officials from DC Cachar swiftly organized the construction of a home for Mujibur Rahman Mazumdar in his village, DakhinMohanpur part 5 in Kachudharam GP. In a heartfelt video message to CM Sarma, Mujibur Rahman expressed his profound gratitude and joy, noting that construction work had commenced early in the morning.
This heartwarming incident occurred during Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s first visit to Hailakandi since assuming office. During this visit, CM Sarma made a concerted effort to connect with the people of the region, engaging in meaningful interactions with citizens like Majibur Rehman.
In a poignant video, Majibur Rehman can be seen confidently conversing with CM Sarma, presenting his voter ID and his application for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. It was during this conversation that CM Sarma inquired, “Is your request for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana?” The exchange between the Chief Minister and Mujibur Rehman exemplifies the government’s commitment to reaching out to the most marginalized and ensuring that their needs are addressed.
Taking to social media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described Majibur Rehman as “a very interesting and hardworking person” and extended his heartfelt wishes, saying, “May God keep them happy always.”
This heartwarming incident is not an isolated example of the Chief Minister’s dedication to the welfare of Assam’s citizens. Previously, during his visit to the Bongaigaon district on December 5, 2022, CM Sarma met a specially-abled man who voiced his concerns about not receiving the benefits of government schemes meant for the needy.
In an emotional conversation that quickly went viral, Rafiqul Islam expressed his frustration at being excluded from the government’s specially-abled schemes and requested a house for his parents. In response, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma acted swiftly, directing the district collector to make arrangements for a house for Rafiqul.
On February 11, Rafiqul Islam’s dreams came true when he received a government house. Rafiqul Islam, a specially-abled youth from Balarpet village under the Srijangram development block of Bongaigaon district, had relied on narrating news in hotels and buses to support his family. His heartfelt plea to the Chief Minister resulted in a tangible change in his life circumstances.
These stories of swift government action to fulfill the dreams and basic needs of citizens serve as powerful reminders of the impact that effective governance can have on the lives of ordinary people. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s commitment to listening to the concerns of his constituents and taking prompt action is a testament to the principles of compassionate leadership and responsive governance. These heartwarming instances underscore the significance of public servants who prioritize the welfare and happiness of their citizens.
