NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GST
Kolkata, 7 October 2023: With the changing needs of the economy, transformations in the field of GST are taking place. A great many intricacies are emerging out of this changes and to note, analyse and disseminate those information to the practitioners and other concerned lot, GST & Indirect Taxes Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized a Two-day National Conference on GST at Bhasa Bhawan, National Library, Alipore, Kolkata.
CA. Sushil Kr. Goyal, Council Member, ICAI & Chairman, GST & Indirect Taxes Committee, ICAI has conceived this 2-day National Conference curating the programme structure for the beneficiaries, mainly for the Chartered Accountants on the subject on 6th& 7th October 2023 hosted by the Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of ICAI.
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of CA. Debayan Patra, Chairman, EIRC, CA. Sanjib Sanghi, Vice Chairman, EIRC, CA. Vishnu Kr. Tulsyan, Secretary, EIRC & CA. Mayur Agrawal, Treasurer, EIRC. CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, Immediate Past President, ICAI applauded the efforts of the GST & Indirect Taxes Committee for its endeavour and congratulated EIRC to successfully host the same.
The topics for the Conference were chosen conspicuously with an aim to materialize the purpose for which the said gathering was held. A host of eminent speakers from across the country lectured in front of the audience in an interactive manner ensuring enhancement of their knowledge and skill to be applied in the days to come.
Discussions mainly covered areas like Input Tax Credit, Reverse Charge Mechanism, Litigation sides of GST, Latest Judicial Pronouncements under GST, Various issues of E-Way Bill, GST demands, notices and impact of Technology on Tax etc. There were also two important Panel Discussion structured to have important and personal views of the experts / panelists of the field on the topic, 1) GST @ 2030 – viz., status in year 2030 in the nation, 2) Tax Technology – Transformation & Transparency.
The Two-day Conference was attended by a spill-over audience in the Bhasha Bhawan. The programme advocated 3Ts, ie, Technology, Time and Trust evoking that with the tech-aided era, everybody should stay updated on a real time basis in order to build trust amongst all. To conclude, Bhasha Bhawan, nuances of GST found a new Bhasha-take-away of the Conference can thus be summed up.
