Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi,  General Manager, Eastern Railway Inspected Howrah, Sealdah & Kolkata stations to monitor  crowd management, ensure smooth experience for passengers during popular Chhat Festival Rush. High Level Meeting Held.

Kolkata, November 16, 2023 :

Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager, Eastern Railway conducted a high level meeting with the Principal Heads of Departments today (16.11.2023) at Eastern Railway Headquarters, Fairlie Place wherein Divisional Railway Managers of Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol & Malda Divisions joined through video conferencing. In the meeting discussions were held in connection with effective crowd management to tackle the rush of passengers during the ongoing festival season.

In the meeting General Manager, Eastern Railway directed all the DRMs to depute branch officers round the clock to provide all kinds of assistance to the passengers & also meet any kind of exigency. In the meeting, General Manager, Eastern Railway also asked all the Principal Heads of Departments to personally visit different strategic stations over Eastern Railway like Asansol, Malda, Jasidih, Bhagalpur, Dum Dum Jn. etc. to assess existing crowd control measures and implement further improvements, if required. All the important stations wherever the anticipation of crowd is expected should be equipped with First Aid box, St. John’s Ambulances and a medical team to remain on stand by for providing medical assistance to the needy passengers.

General Manager, Eastern Railway directed to depute Civil Defence personnel along with the Railway Protection Force to provide all round security to the needy passengers.

Photography & videography will be strictly prohibited by any person to avoid unnecessary crowding at the platform. Media persons may cover the news & give bites by taking permission from the competent authority only. No other person is authorised to give bites or cover the crowded Railway stations.

Provision of other passenger amenities like availability of drinking water, cleanliness in & around the station premises should be ensured. If necessary, additional ticket booking counters may be opened for hassle free journey of the passengers.

Later, Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager, Eastern Railway conducted inspection of Howrah, Sealdah & Kolkata stations to ascertain the arrangements for proper crowd management during the festive season. Shri Sanjeev Kumar, DRM/Howrah, Shri Deepak Nigam, DRM/Sealdah along with Shri Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager and other Principal Heads of Departments accompanied General Manager in the inspection.
