The Post Office Act 2023 will be harbinger of new growth path for India Post: DG-PS Smita Kumar

India Post is entering in to new trajectories of growth and development with new the Post Office Act 2023 replacing the India Post Office Act,1898.
Director General of Postal Services , Government of India Ms. Smita Kumar mentioned India Post has entered in to evolutionary new growth and development trajectories through Citizen Centric Service Network after replacement of 1898 Act with new The Post Office Act 2023 while addressing closing ceremony of 6days long Celebration of 250 years of establishment of Kolkata GPO on 19th March 2024 in Kolkata.
Kolkata then Calcutta GPO was established on 31st March 1774 by then Governor General of Bengal Lord Warren Hastings at Fort William.
Special Cover commemorating the ” Badges of Kolkata GPO” was released by Ms. Smita Kumar DG-PS Government of India in presence of Shri Niraj Kumar Chief Post Master General of West Bengal Circle.
While welcoming the guests , Shri Niraj Kumar CPMG mentioned India Post has adopted evolving technologies from time to time to reorient its human needs centric services over two centuries . Shri Niraj Kumar highlighted India Post ‘s core strength of physical-digital network Infrastructures spread across the country including in remote areas to provide wide range of services. Shri Niraj Kumar mentioned ” the Spirit of Sewa” alongwith ” Spirit of delivery of services at doorstep ” will remain guiding principles for India Post while serving all sections of people of India .
