PM Modi Invites Regional Leaders for Swearing-In Ceremony

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended invitations to the Prime Ministers of Nepal, Bangladesh, and Mauritius, the President of Sri Lanka, and the King of Bhutan for his swearing-in ceremony later this week. The leaders invited include Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Mauritius’ Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

On Wednesday, PM Modi expressed gratitude to these leaders following their congratulatory messages on the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) recent electoral success in the Lok Sabha elections. Through a series of tweets, Modi shared his appreciation and confirmed he had telephone conversations with each leader.

In his message to Sheikh Hasina, Modi emphasized the historic relations between India and Bangladesh, noting the unprecedented growth in their partnership over the last decade. He expressed his eagerness to work together to further strengthen this people-centric relationship.

Modi also communicated with the King of Bhutan, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. He thanked Jugnauth for his call and expressed his desire for continued collaboration to enhance the special relationship between India and Mauritius in his third term. Additionally, Modi reaffirmed with Pushpa Kamal Dahal their shared commitment to deepening the multifaceted partnership between India and Nepal, aiming to maintain positive momentum in bilateral relations.

Modi conveyed his thanks to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, highlighting the unique and exemplary Bhutan-Bharat partnership and expressing his intention to elevate this extraordinary relationship further.

Global leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, along with numerous other leaders, have also congratulated Modi on the NDA’s electoral victory. This wave of international support underscores the global recognition of Modi’s leadership and the significance of the NDA’s success in the elections.

As Modi prepares for his swearing-in, the presence of these regional leaders will highlight India’s strong diplomatic ties and collaborative efforts with neighboring countries. This gathering aims to reinforce relationships and promote regional stability and cooperation, reflecting Modi’s vision of a unified and prosperous South Asia.
