The Congress party responded to statements made by Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi, who claimed that Nitish Kumar was offered the prime minister’s post by the INDIA bloc. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, addressing the press after a Congress Working Committee meeting, stated that the party had no such information. Tyagi had previously mentioned to the Indian Express that those who had initially refused to make Nitish Kumar the national convenor of the INDIA bloc were now offering him the prime ministerial position.
Tyagi accused the INDIA bloc members, including Congress and other parties, of mistreating Nitish Kumar. He also declared that his party would not return to the INDIA bloc. With 12 seats, Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) has become a crucial ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition.
Nitish Kumar, who played a pivotal role in forming the opposition INDIA alliance last year, switched back to the NDA in January after Mamata Banerjee proposed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge as the potential PM candidate for the INDIA bloc. On Friday, Kumar expressed his support for the NDA’s decision to name Narendra Modi as the coalition leader. He confidently predicted that those who won in the recent elections would lose in the next, emphasizing that they had never truly served the nation. Kumar expressed his full confidence in Modi’s leadership, stating that all pending works in Bihar would be completed under Modi’s guidance.
Kumar’s statements highlight his belief in collective progress and his support for the NDA. He stressed the importance of unity and collaboration with Modi for the nation’s advancement.
