MSP for Jute announced for crop year 2024-25 by Govt. of India

Government of India has announced Minimum Support Price (MSP ) for Jute for Crop year 2024 -25 at rate of ₹ 5335 per quintal for TD3 ( Middle Grade ) which acts reference to determine MSP for various Grades and Varieties of
jute all over India.
Jute Corporation of India ( JCI ) Chairman Shri A. K. Jolly announced JCI will procure jute of various Grades and Varieties at Minimum Support Price (MSP) through JCI Purchase Centres across India . JCI was established in 1971 . JCI ‘s primary mandate is to provide MSP support to Jute farmer’s whenever the market price of jute falls below the MSP fixed by Government of India preventing distress sale by farmers.
JCI has procured more than 13.15 lakh quintals of raw jute for ₹616.70 crores in crop year 2023- 2024 which is highest purchase level in a year over the period of the last 20 years.
All payments to farmers are made directly to farmer’s bank account generally within 3 working days.
JCI has expanded its scope of operations and involved in training farmer’s to empower jute farmer’s with knowledge & skills to improve quality of raw jute and to increase yield of jute production. JCI is distributing quality seeds , seed sowing machines , various eco-friendly chemicals needed to determine quality of jute by the farmers.
JCI is executing ” 𝗝𝘂𝘁𝗲 – 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 ” funded by National Jute Board and assisted by agro-research institutes – ICAR-CRIJAF and ICAR- NINFET.
The 𝗝𝘂𝘁𝗲 – 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 is in its 10th phase in its tenth year providing benefits to excess of 4.3 lakhs farmers. 𝗝𝘂𝘁𝗲 – 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 has introduced Geospatial Crop Surveillance & Monitoring system to cover jute fields across India to accurately ascertain the cultivated land and estimate jute production.
Jute Commissioner of India Shri Moloy Chandan Chakraborty indicated export of jute and jute products have suffered due to Russia- Ukraine war and current war in Gaza in Middle- East .
