Here’s How BCCI’s Rs 125 Crore Prize Money to India’s T20 World Cup Champions Will be Divided

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a staggering prize money of Rs 125 crore for India’s victorious squad in the T20 World Cup, led by captain Rohit Sharma and coached by Rahul Dravid. The prize distribution includes significant sums for players, coaching staff, and support personnel who contributed to India’s triumph in the tournament.

According to reports, each of the 15 players in the squad, including those who did not get to play a single match like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Sanju Samson, will receive Rs 5 crore. Rahul Dravid, whose tenure as head coach concluded with the T20 World Cup victory, will also be awarded Rs 5 crore from the prize pool.

The coaching staff under Dravid, comprising batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, will each receive Rs 2.5 crore for their contributions to the team’s success.

Additionally, the backroom staff, which includes physiotherapists, throwdown specialists, masseurs, and the strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai, will be awarded Rs 2 crore each. The reserve players named for the T20 World Cup and members of BCCI’s Senior Selection Committee will reportedly get Rs 1 crore each from the prize money.

The prize distribution breakdown is as follows:

  • Rs 5 crore each for 15 players and head coach Rahul Dravid (totaling Rs 80 crore)
  • Rs 2.5 crore each for batting, fielding, and bowling coaches (totaling Rs 7.5 crore)
  • Rs 2 crore each for physiotherapists, throwdown specialists, masseurs, and strength and conditioning coach (totaling Rs 18 crore)
  • Rs 1 crore each for selectors and reserve players (totaling Rs 9 crore)

India clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in a thrilling final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The victory marked India’s flawless campaign in the tournament, where they remained unbeaten throughout.

The BCCI’s generous prize money distribution reflects their acknowledgment of the collective effort behind India’s success on the global cricketing stage. As celebrations continue within the Indian cricket fraternity, the players and staff are set to receive their respective shares, underscoring their pivotal roles in bringing home the prestigious T20 World Cup trophy.
