Hamsavahini Festival held at Jadavpur University, Kolkata

On 29th June 2024, Saturday, the gala international  Hamsavahini Festival & Competition was held at the Dr. Triguna Sen auditorium, Jadavpur University Kolkta. The program was organized by the leading dance academy of Kolkata, the Hamsavahini Kalalayam in association with the Department of Sanskrit, Jadavpur  University and the National Service Scheme (NSS)-JU Unit between 10 am to 9 pm. The program highted upon numerous presentations by students across various age groups focusing on classical amd semiclassical dance forms (Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak), folk dances across various states of India, fusion and contemporary modern theme based dances. Over 200 participants joined the program showcasing a diverse spectrum of colourful costumes, music and engaging dance forms. 
 
A large number of dignitaries from various sections of the society shared the stage making erudite presentations on various aspects of dance as a cultural heritage, dance as a tool for better physical and mental health; and about the hostory and evolution of different dance forms. DGM, Metro Railways, Kolkata, Mr. Sumit Ghosh, Mr. Samir Kumar Das, Additional Secretary AI SC/ST, Eastern Railways, Ms. Dhruti Ghosh Halder, eminent theater personality and above all Dr. Anuradha Roy, Festival Director and Principal of Hamsavahini Kalalayam. The overall management of the event, artistic creativity and the superb performance of the participants understand the direction of Dr. Anuradha Roy deserves special mention. Particularly the splendid performance by you g performers as young as 4 to 5 years of age was truly spectacular and highly applauded by the supportive audience who stayed almost the entire day tobattend the gala program.
