Senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, son of the late Sheila Dikshit, launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Monday. Dikshit’s remarks came in response to Atishi’s accusations that the BJP is attempting to permanently harm Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s health.
Dikshit expressed his disappointment with AAP’s alleged politicization of Kejriwal’s health issues. He accused the party of having a habitual tendency to lie, suggesting that their credibility has been severely undermined. He pointedly remarked that even if AAP were to tell the truth, their history of dishonesty makes it difficult for the public to take them seriously. Addressing Atishi directly, Dikshit advised her to work on building credibility. “There is that one story of a wolf,” he said, “they have lied so many times that even when they tell the truth, sometimes it does not seem that they should be believed. So I would say to Atishi that increase your credibility a bit, then when any serious issue comes up everyone will be seen standing with you.”
Earlier in the day, Atishi addressed the media, making grave allegations that the BJP is trying to “permanently damage” Kejriwal’s health. She highlighted the Delhi CM’s long-standing battle with diabetes, noting that he has been a diabetic for around 30 years. Atishi emphasized the severe risks associated with dangerous drops in blood sugar levels, which can lead to brain damage if not promptly addressed. She accused the BJP of manipulating the narrative around Kejriwal’s health through the Tihar jail administration, claiming they released documents asserting that Kejriwal had no health issues. Atishi insisted that despite the BJP’s alleged misinformation, the truth would prevail.
During her press conference, Atishi cited a report from Tihar jail’s medical officer, warning that Kejriwal’s consistently dropping sugar levels could result in a coma or permanent brain damage. She made an urgent plea to the BJP, urging them to stop politicizing Kejriwal’s health and to cease any actions that could jeopardize his well-being. “He can suffer permanent brain damage. This is what the Tihar Jail report shows. I would like to tell the BJP – stop playing with the life of Arvind Kejriwal, stop doing politics over his health,” Atishi declared.
Dikshit’s rebuttal underscores the escalating tensions between the Congress and AAP, highlighting the ongoing political turmoil in Delhi. His call for increased credibility within AAP suggests deeper issues of trust and transparency that continue to plague the party. As the political drama unfolds, the public is left to navigate through a sea of accusations and counterclaims, each side vehemently defending its stance.
The controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s health has added another layer of complexity to the political landscape in Delhi. With allegations of conspiracy and demands for honesty and credibility flying across party lines, the situation remains highly charged. Both AAP and the BJP face mounting pressure to address the concerns raised and provide clarity on the true state of Kejriwal’s health, while Dikshit’s critique of AAP’s integrity continues to reverberate through the political discourse.
