Shiv Sena Secretary and spokesperson Dr. Manisha Kayande has formally approached Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, demanding immediate action against the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 3. This request follows the recent online leak of an intimate video featuring YouTuber and contestant Armaan Malik and his second wife, Kritika.
Dr. Kayande has expressed strong disapproval of the content being broadcast on the show. In an interview with ANI, she criticized the program for its portrayal of what she deems to be excessive vulgarity. She remarked, “Bigg Boss OTT 3 is a reality show currently filming, but the level of vulgarity displayed is unacceptable. The participation of the YouTube influencer Armaan Malik has crossed all boundaries of decency. We have formally requested the Mumbai police to take appropriate action, and we have submitted a letter highlighting our concerns.”
Kayande voiced her concern over the potential negative influence of such content on young audiences, questioning, “How can such public displays of vulgarity be justified under the guise of reality television? It is imperative to address how this affects the younger generation.”
In addition to her appeal to the Mumbai police, Dr. Kayande plans to escalate the matter to the Information and Broadcasting Minister. She has urged the government to introduce legislation regulating OTT platforms during the current parliamentary session. Her demands include not only holding the actors accountable but also taking action against the CEO of the show, reflecting a broader call for increased oversight and regulation of content on digital platforms.
The controversy centers around Armaan Malik, a prominent YouTuber who, along with his two wives, Payal and Kritika, has been one of the most talked-about participants on Bigg Boss OTT 3. Malik’s unconventional family structure and the show’s portrayal of their personal lives have sparked significant public and media attention. Payal, who was evicted from the show earlier, subsequently announced her intention to divorce Armaan, citing the intense online backlash and public scrutiny surrounding their polygamous marriage.
The leaked video, which features Malik and Kritika in a private setting, has further fueled the ongoing debate about the ethical boundaries of reality television and the responsibility of media producers. Critics argue that such content not only violates personal privacy but also contributes to a broader decline in public decency.
The Mumbai Police and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry now face mounting pressure to address these issues and consider implementing stricter regulations for reality television shows. As discussions continue, the future of Bigg Boss OTT 3 and similar programs may hinge on the outcomes of these regulatory and legal actions.
