Senior BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh state president, Prabhat Jha, passed away this morning after a prolonged illness. Jha, who was 67, was receiving treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram at the time of his death.
Before being moved to Medanta, Jha had been admitted to Bansal Hospital in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was airlifted to Medanta Hospital in Delhi two days prior to his demise.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. He wrote, “I received the very sad news of the demise of former Madhya Pradesh BJP President and senior leader Prabhat Jha. May Baba Mahakal give place to the departed soul at his Shri Feet and give the grieving family the strength to bear this terrible thunderbolt. Your important role in the development of Madhya Pradesh will always inspire us. Your death is an irreparable loss to the political world. Om Shanti!”
Tulsiram Silawat, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister, also took to X to share his grief. He stated, “I received the very sad news of the demise of former Madhya Pradesh BJP President and senior BJP leader Honorable Shri Prabhat Jha. May God give place to the departed soul at his Shri Feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this terrible lightning.”
Prabhat Jha, originally a journalist, made a significant transition into politics and held numerous key positions within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Over his distinguished career, he served as the national vice president of the party and led the BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit. His contributions to the party and his leadership were highly regarded by his peers and constituents alike.
Jha’s political career was marked by his commitment to the development and progress of Madhya Pradesh. His efforts and leadership were instrumental in shaping the political landscape of the state. Colleagues remember him for his dedication, strategic acumen, and his ability to inspire those around him.

The final rites for Prabhat Jha are yet to be scheduled, but his son, Ayatan, mentioned that they would take place either in Gwalior or in his native village, Koriyahi, Sitamarhi in Bihar. The family is preparing to honor his memory and his legacy in a manner befitting his contributions to the state and the nation.
Jha’s death leaves a void in the political arena, particularly within the BJP, where his experience and guidance were highly valued. His legacy will continue to inspire current and future leaders within the party and beyond.
