News Mania Desk/Agnibeena Ghosh/26th August 2024

Sanjay Roy, the prime suspect in the horrifying rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has made chilling confessions during a recent polygraph test conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This case has shocked the nation as more details emerge about Roy’s disturbing behavior leading up to the crime.

During the lie-detector test, Sanjay Roy admitted to visiting a red-light district with a friend just hours before the brutal crime took place. Although he claimed that he did not engage in any sexual activity, this visit is just one of the many troubling actions he confessed to. According to reports, Roy also admitted to molesting a woman on the street prior to committing the heinous act against the doctor.

Adding to the gravity of his actions, Roy reportedly video-called his girlfriend and pressured her to send him nude photos, revealing a pattern of sexual harassment that extended beyond the night of the crime. His behavior points to a deep-seated problem, as investigators discovered that he was severely addicted to pornography, with several pornographic clips found on his phone. This addiction is believed to have contributed to his violent and predatory behavior.

On the night of the crime, Roy consumed alcohol with a friend before heading to another red-light district in South Kolkata known as Chetla. During their journey, they allegedly harassed another woman, further showcasing Roy’s disregard for the safety and dignity of others. After returning to the hospital, Roy reportedly wandered into a corridor near the seminar hall around 4:03 a.m., where the tragedy unfolded. He brutally raped and murdered the doctor, leaving her with 25 external and internal injuries. The autopsy revealed that she had been smothered to death, a detail that underscores the brutality of the crime.

Following the attack, Roy sought refuge at the home of his friend, Anupam Dutta, a police officer. This connection raises questions about whether Roy received any assistance in evading justice initially. However, Roy’s polygraph results were inconsistent, with the machine flagging several of his responses as misleading, indicating that he might not have been fully truthful during the test.

The investigation has also extended to Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, who has come under scrutiny for his role in the case. The CBI subjected Ghosh to a lie-detector test, suspecting that he may have attempted to cover up the rape and murder as a suicide. The Supreme Court has also criticized the Kolkata Police for their delayed response, questioning why it took over 12 hours to file the First Information Report (FIR). Furthermore, the CBI is investigating allegations of financial irregularities involving Dr. Ghosh, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

This shocking case continues to unravel, revealing a web of criminal behavior, corruption, and a gross miscarriage of justice. As the investigation progresses, the public awaits answers and accountability for the brutal murder of a young doctor whose life was tragically cut short.
