A CNN poll of debate watchers by independent research firm SSRS found that most Americans believe Vice President Kamala Harris did better than Donald Trump at Tuesday’s presidential debate.
63% of debate viewers chose Harris over 37%, indicating that they thought she did a superior job. According to a poll conducted before the debate by Siena College and The New York Times, the two contenders were tied for first place. Following the debate, 96% of Harris’s supporters claimed their candidate had performed better, compared to just 69% of Trump’s backers who felt the same way.

It is alleged that the Democratic candidate provoked her opponent into outrage on everything from foreign policy to abortion. In contrast to what the flash polls had revealed, Mr. Trump claimed afterwards that this had been his “best debate”. He has been challenged by Ms. Harris’s team for a second debate in October.

Compared to the June discussion, when President Joe Biden was a contender, this represents a significant change. According to polls at the time, Mr. Trump did better than his opponent, 67% to 33%.

Nevertheless, these surveys only reflect the opinions of those who watch debates; they do not reflect the opinions of all voters.
Pop musician Taylor Swift also endorsed the 59-year-old vice president during the discussion.

When it came to who in the debate understood their problems better, viewers were sharply divided: 44% of them thought Ms. Harris did, while 40% supported Mr. Trump. However, debate viewers also gave Mr. Trump a 23-point edge over other candidates for commander in chief and immigration handling.
