On Monday, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia will meet with Delhi president Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The day before, the party president declared that he would step down and refuse to take the chief minister’s seat until he had a “certificate of honesty”, Sisodia said.
The chief minister’s official mansion in the Civil Lines neighborhood will host the gathering. It is also probable that Kejriwal’s home would host an evening meeting of the AAP’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC).
According to the AAP national convener, Manish Sisodia would be appointed deputy chief minister and he will take over as chief minister “only when people say we are honest”.
A party functionary on Monday said, “Kejriwal and Sisodia will be meeting today. This will be the first meeting after the decision by them. The meeting is also likely to see a discussion over the next chief minister.”
After being freed on bail from the Tihar Jail on Friday in connection with a fraud case involving the excise policy, Kejriwal announced that he would call a meeting of the AAP MLAs and appoint a party member to serve as the party’s chief minister. His sudden announcement caused quite a stir, with his wife Sunita and ministers Atishi and Gopal Rai being mentioned as potential successors.
