The last time Diljit Dosanjh and Alia Bhatt collaborated in a film together, and sang their way into our hearts, it was a song about one woman aka “Ikk Kudi” for the 2016 movie Udta Punjab. Eight years later, this rocking pair have reunited to sing about a woman, but are urging her to carry ahead even if she is all alone. This unique song, “Chal Kudiye,” will be featured in Alia’s forthcoming movie Jigra. “Chal Kudiye,” written and composed by Harmanjeet Singh and Manpreet Singh, is sung by Diljit and Alia.
Jigra, which is helmed by Vasan Bala, is billed as an action-adventure film about a prison break orchestrated by Alia Bhatt, who plays a devoted sister hoping to save her brother (Vedang Raina) from the grasp of an overseas jail. The teaser, which debuted last week, showed Alia in her most action-packed role to date while also evoking powerful feelings of emotion in us.
Vasan Bala, who previously directed quirky entertainers like Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and Monica O My Darling, has a very different style from this. But based on his writing credits, which include movies like Bombay Velvet and Raman Raghav 2.0, we can be sure Jigra will be a gritty action movie.
Supported by Debashish Irengbam, Apoorva Mehta, Shaheen Bhatt, Alia Bhatt, and Somen Mishra, Vasan co-wrote Jigra with Debashish Bhatt. On October 11, the film, which also stars Rahul Ravindran and Manoj Pahwa, will be released worldwide.
