Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has expressed his joy about the commendable batting performances of the Ravichandran Ashwin-Ravindra Jadeja duo that took India from “despair to domination” with their counter-attacking partnership during the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Indian batting top-order quickly collapsed as skipper Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0) and Virat Kohli (6) were quick to return to the dressing room and India was stranded at 34/3. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 56 in 118 balls and Rishav Pant made 39 in 52 balls. Together they produced a 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket which landed the Indian team in a better place. India was down to 144/6 when Ashwin (102* runs from 112 balls) and Jadeja (86* runs from 117 balls) stitched together a 195-run partnership that saw the score go up to 339/6 at Stumps.
The former Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, writing on his X handle said, “From despair to domination! @ashwinravi99 and @imjadeja’s knocks have turned the tide for India once again. This all-round brilliance is invaluable. Super partnership boys. #INDvBAN.”
Hasan Mahmoud has been the best bowler for the Bangladesh team so far as he destroyed the Indian top order by taking 4 wickets against only 58 runs.
