Blame game within Congress? Kumari Selja launching an attack on Bhupinder Singh Hooda

Even before the official results were announced on Tuesday, there was obvious dissatisfaction among the Congress leadership in Haryana. Congressman Kumari Selja discreetly attacked Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the leader of the party that ran in the elections. She claimed that in order to revive the party in the state and find individuals responsible for its poor showing in the Haryana Assembly elections, the national leadership of the party must come up with a plan.

Selja also emphasized how important it was to identify those who were undermining the party’s attempts to take back control of the state.

“Pained by Congress workers’ disappointment, I am confident the party high command will assess the reasons for the defeat. The high command should formulate a plan to help revive the party in Haryana and identify those responsible for the results,” Shelja told reporters. She asserted, “It will not be business as usual in Haryana and I am sure the Congress high command would identify those who negated the efforts to bring the party to power after 10 years”.

The BJP is set to establish the government in the state for the third consecutive time as it leads in 48 seats in the 90-member assembly. Congress has 37 seats, which limits its ability to retake power after ten years. The former union minister and Congress Lok Sabha MP Selja stated, “I’m sure the party will look into all aspects that led to such results in Haryana”. She also stated that bringing everyone along and making sure all the leaders are in sync are aspects that impact the organization.

Long before the Assembly elections, there was a clear sign of factionalism inside the Haryana Congress. Selja had expressed her disapproval of Hooda’s leadership on numerous times, frequently in public.
