Regarding the 2016 plane incident involving her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, actress Angelina Jolie has formally abandoned her complaint against the Department of Justice and the FBI. The Oscar-winning actor’s tumultuous legal chapter has come to a conclusion with the announcement.
Media sources were able to get court paperwork that showed the dismissal was finalized with prejudice, meaning that the lawsuit could not be refiled. Each party shall be responsible for its own legal fees and expenditures, according to the agreement.First brought under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in April 2022, Angelina was recognized in court as the unnamed “Jane Doe.” The request was made for the disclosure of records pertaining to a purported incidence of domestic violence that took place on a private aircraft.
According to Angelina’s lawsuit, Brad “allegedly physically and verbally assaulted” her and their children throughout the flight, causing “lasting physical and mental trauma.” The accusations are similar to information from an FBI investigation that was made public after the September 14, 2016, flight from Europe to Los Angeles.
The media claims that Brad was charged with assaulting Angelina and Maddox, one of their six children, during this flight.Federal officials finally opted not to press charges against Brad, who has continuously refuted the accusations, despite the gravity of the claims.
Following the plane mishap, Angelina filed for divorce on September 19, 2016, citing the day after the incident as their date of separation.
The pair has been involved in lengthy legal battles around their previous joint ownership of Chateau Miraval, a vineyard and winery in France, even after they were officially proclaimed single in 2019.The most recent criticism came from Brad’s legal team, who claimed that Angelina was on a “sensationalist fishing expedition” when she asked to speak with Brad about the 2016 incident.
In defence, Angelina’s attorney emphasised her desire for a resolution, stating, “While Angelina again asks Mr Pitt to end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing, unless Mr Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong.”
