Vikrant Massey is everywhere in the run-up to the release of The Sabarmati Report, promoting his own film. This marks his first theatrical appearance since 12th Fail’s huge triumph. In many respects, Vikrant’s ability to solidify his box office reputation in Hindi cinema will be evaluated by The Sabarmati Report. Vikrant has no qualms about acknowledging that this wasn’t the situation prior to the release of the Vidhu Vinod Chopra movie.
He was questioned about discussions around 12th Fail in a media outlet interview, where it was stated that the movie didn’t include a huge name as its star. Remarkably, Taapsee Pannu also stated in the lead-up to Haseen Dillruba that “who played the hero didn’t matter in the film.” While it is true that 12th Fail lacked a huge celebrity, Vikrant added, “To be honest, I don’t take offense to these things.”
Clarifying that he did receive positive feedback for his acting, it didn’t really translate into box-office numbers. “On the commercial angle, I didn’t even have a strong solo film hit the theatres before 12th Fail. So, I understand that such statements weren’t made in a condescending sense,” said the actor, who shares that such healthy arguments is an important aspect of conversations. “We should healthily agree to disagree. Unfortunately, in social media, and in life, we are seeing how friendships are being broken due to differing political ideologies and tolerance capacities. You just can’t seem to agree to disagree anymore. That is disturbing.”
