AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal slammed the BJP-led central government on Sunday for alleged inaction on law and order issues in the city, stating that instead of prosecuting criminals, an attack was planned on him during his November 30 padyatra in Malviya Nagar. The BJP has not yet responded to the charges.
Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal said, “The liquid thrown on me was harmless, but it could have been dangerous. This is the third attack on me in the last 35 days.” The former chief minister also accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of sending the message that complainants, rather than offenders, will face arrest.
Kejriwal also criticized the arrest of AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, who had previously filed a charge against gangsters for extortion. “Instead of arresting criminals, they are targeting our MLAs,” the AAP president claimed, calling for action against the genuine perpetrators to safeguard the safety of Delhi citizens.
A man threw liquid on Kejriwal during his ‘padyatra’ in Malviya Nagar, south Delhi, causing a security concern on Saturday. The AAP leader accused the BJP of using dishonest measures to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.
