Sharad Pawar encourages Maharashtra CM to resolve the Beed and Parbhani incidents.

On Sunday, NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar spoke with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the phone regarding the murder of a sarpanch in Beed and the death of a man as a result of violence in Parbhani. Pawar paid visits on Saturday to the relatives of Santosh Deshmukh, the dead sarpanch, and Somnath Suryawanshi, who purportedly died in judicial custody after being arrested in connection with the Parbhani riots.
On Sunday, the chairman of the NCP (SP) attended the Bhimthadi Jatra at the city’s College of Agriculture.While at the ceremony, he contacted the chief minister and asked him to take note of the Beed and Parbhani instances.
On Friday, Fadnavis pledged judicial investigations into the Parbhani riots and the death of the sarpanch, as well as financial help of Rs 10 lakh to Deshmukh and Suryawanshi’s families.The senior lawmaker further stated he had invited Fadnavis to the 98th All India Marathi Literary Convention (Marathi Sahitya Sammelan), which would be held in Delhi. Talking to reporters here, Pawar said, “I had a word with the chief minister about the places I visited yesterday. I told him that the situation was serious and asked him to take note of the issue.”
Protests in Parbhani got violent last week when a replica of the Constitution was vandalised, and Suryavanshi, who was detained in connection with the incident, died in judicial custody. Santosh Deshmukh, the Sarpanch of Massajog village in Beed, was kidnapped and killed on December 9th.
