· The inauguration of AI-enabled USG machine in line with Nephro Care India’s vision to provide accessible, affordable and comprehensive healthcare to people
· The first-of-its kind comprehensive Ultrasound solution – Logiq Totus – to streamline workflow and maximise efficiency across multiple care areas
Kolkata, January 3, 2025: In a pioneering move, Nephro Care India Limited (NCIL) has inaugurated a state-of-art voice controlled, AI-powered total ultrasound system at its flagship clinic in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The advanced USG machine – Logiq Totus, will help provide real-time scan guidance thereby enhancing operator efficiency, improving diagnostic accuracy and help conducting more precise procedures.
According to Dr Pratim Sengupta, Founder and MD & CEO, Nephro Care India, the move is aimed at revolutionising healthcare delivery as the AI-based algorithms will not only help analyse ultrasound images but assist providers in interpreting abnormalities or anomalies that may otherwise be slightly challenging to detect.
The advanced USG machine leverages a wide range of transducers, including XDclear, which produces high resolution images covering head-to-toe applications across clinical specialities or care areas. It also addresses clinically challenging cases with advanced tools such as 2D Shear Wave Elastography, Ultrasound-Guided Attenuation Parameter (UGAP), and Volume Navigation.
“At Nephro Care India it has been our constant endeavour to provide holistic and comprehensive care and support to our patients and with this vision in mind we have been adopting the most advanced technologies such as setting up a Smart ICU and Smart OT at our multispeciality hospital – Vivacity at Madhyamgram. The inauguration of this USG machine at our flagship clinic at Salt Lake is another step in this direction. This will harness the power of AI thereby delivering high-quality imaging, provide diagnostic support, optimise efficiency and will help save time which will enable us to provide comprehensive support and care to patients at a reduced turnaround time. We believe this will revolutionise healthcare delivery in eastern India,” Dr Sengupta said.
Providing holistic and quality care
NCIL has been undertaking several initiatives to make healthcare more accessible and affordable to masses. The company is collaborating with the National Institute of Technology, Silchar to develop the prototype of remotely monitored AI-enabled Smart Haemodialysis Machine. Currently a majority of the haemodialysis machines in India are imported and hence the cost is significantly higher. Indigenous manufacturing of these machines can bring down cost thereby translating into lower cost of treatment for patients suffering from advanced renal failure, Dr Sengupta said.
Once ready, the smart Haemodialysis machine is likely to bring down the cost of these machines by nearly 70-75 per cent to Rs 2 lakh from the current Rs 7.5-8 lakh.
NCIL, which successful completed its initial public offering (IPO) in July 2024, recently inaugurated a 100-bedded multispecialty hospital – Vivacity Multispecialty Hospital at Madhyamgram in West Bengal to provide holistic care to patients. The multispecialty hospital, which offers treatment services in various disciplines such as cardiology, medical oncology, gastroenterology, gynaecology and many others also hosts an advanced renal transplant unit in East India.
