Many children rise with aspirations of enrolling in an international university, experiencing diverse cultures, and receiving mentorship from top-notch faculty who motivate them to work harder. To tackle the noticeable issue of chaotic (and at times deceptive and flawed) information in the study abroad sector and assist students in gaining admission to prestigious universities with minimal obstacles and optimal convenience, Sundeep Luthra established Application Uni in 2021.
Four years later, the startup boasts some remarkable figures.
Every year, more than a hundred students begin their study abroad experiences with Application Uni. Over 180 Indian schools and organizations have collaborated with the startup to gain access to educational tours. A total of 3,600 students have embarked on learning journeys via these tours.
Originating from New Delhi, Sundeep was quite decisive about his wish to study overseas for his advanced education. At Bristol, Sundeep earned a degree in business studies. He additionally held a part-time job at the university.
At that time, Bristol operated a pilot initiative named Language School, which the university managed during its Open Days. For those unfamiliar, Open Days is a well-known idea in the United Kingdom where universities showcase and promote their programs nationwide. It is a successful marketing technique typically carried out by current students themselves.
Ultimately, after graduating from college, Sundeep came to understand that this was what he wanted to commit the majority of his time to. Even though he secured positions at companies such as the Royal Bank of Scotland in London, he was always aware that his true calling lay in the study-abroad field. Ultimately, Sundeep founded Application Uni.
Application Uni commenced with a unique, steadfast goal: assist students in studying abroad effortlessly, utilizing the appropriate digital resources to enhance their experience. One of the initial issues Sundeep aimed to address was the chaotic and fragmented information that prospective students faced.
The study abroad company has been sending nearly 100 students each year to their ideal universities. For Educational Tours, Application Uni has collaborated with over 180 schools in India, enabling a remarkable 3,600 students to experience international educational tours with their peers.
Sanctioned by the governments of Estonia and Canada, Sundeep Luthra’s Application Uni has demonstrated remarkable growth without outside funding. In FY24, the study abroad company generated revenue of Rs 2.25 crore. In FY25, the startup has reached Rs 4.5 crore and is anticipated to finish at Rs 6 crore.
In the future, Application Uni plans to launch a unique tech-enabled app designed to assist school principals in effortlessly arranging educational tours, all while ensuring full transparency regarding the costs and experiences involved. In the upcoming three years, Application Uni aims to launch its IPO in the SME sector.
