Union Minister of Coal and Mines Shri Gangapuram Kishan Reddy said “One Nation ,One Election” will facilitate better time and resources management and fast track Bharat’s growth journey to Viksit Bharat @2047 as & when implementated.
Shri G . Kishan Reddy was addressing 124th Annual General Meeting of Bharat Chamber of Commerce on 4th March 2025 in Kolkata. Shri Reddy explained how multiple elections of Parliament, State Assemblies , local bodies slowing down Bharat ‘s growth journey and stressed on the need to implement ” One Nation, One Election ” concept as a bill was introduced in Lok Sabha in 17th December 2024.
Proposal deals with synchronisation of all elections in the country either on a single day or within a specific time frame, with an objective of cutting election cost. Also , proposal calls for simultaneously conduct elections to the Lok Sabha & state legislative assemblies of all 28 states & 8 union territories.
