Sonam Raghuvanshi, charged with murdering her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, had conspired with her lover to execute the killing just three days after their wedding, sources informed.

In a conversation with her partner, Raj Kushwaha, Sonam expressed to him that she wasn’t comfortable with her husband being intimate with her, as per sources. Sonam, who turned herself in on Monday in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, after evading capture for several days after her husband’s killing, informed her lover that she had separated from Raja even prior to their wedding. Sources indicated that she informed Raj in a chat about intending to murder her husband three days post-wedding.

The defendants purposefully selected a distant place to murder Raja, they remarked. Sonam, married to Raja in Indore on May 10 and arriving in Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 21, turned herself in at Ghazipur early Monday, just days after her husband’s death.

Raja was discovered deceased in a deep ravine in a mountainous forest region close to Cherrapunji, while local police and authorities initiated search efforts to locate the couple, who had previously been reported as “missing.”

Following the finding of Raja’s body, the Shillong police indicated that he could have been murdered, dismissing theories that he experienced an accident or was involved in any other unfortunate occurrence. Following her surrender to the Uttar Pradesh Police, Sonam admitted that she supposedly engaged contract killers to take out Raja. Four men, including Raj, whom the woman had an affair with, were detained for supposedly murdering her husband.

Besides Kushwaha, the other three individuals detained for allegedly murdering Raja have been identified as Aakash Rajpoot, Vikas also known as Vicky, and Anand. An autopsy report released on Monday verified several sharp injuries to Raja’s body, including two significant wounds – one located at the front of his head and another at the back.
