India on Saturday firmly dismissed Pakistan’s effort to accuse it of responsibility for a lethal suicide bombing in North Waziristan that resulted in the deaths of 13 Pakistani soldiers. On Saturday, a suicide attacker rammed an explosive-packed vehicle into a military convoy in the North Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The explosion resulted in the deaths of 13 soldiers and left 10 others injured, as well as 19 civilians, according to a local government representative cited by AFP news agency.
The assault, which signified a further episode of rising violence in Pakistan’s tribal areas, was attributed to the suicide unit of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, a faction associated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
This event is referred to as one of the most lethal in North Waziristan in recent months and has heightened significant worries regarding the security conditions in the area.
Following the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has experienced a significant increase in assaults in its border regions. Islamabad has often charged the Afghan Taliban with providing refuge to militants behind these cross-border attacks, a claim Kabul refutes. As per the news agency, nearly 290 individuals, primarily security personnel, have been killed in assaults by anti-government factions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan this year to date.
Pakistan placed second on the Global Terrorism Index 2025, experiencing a 45 percent increase in terror-related fatalities over the last year, totaling 1,081.
