The Devil Wears Prada 2 begins filming: Here’s who is not returning from the original cast

Prepare yourself! The much-anticipated follow-up to The Devil Wears Prada, featuring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, has officially started production. The news was confirmed by Disney’s 20th Century Studios via their official Instagram account.

However, there have also been additional new details regarding the cast for the sequel. A report indicates that sources have verified that Nate Cooper (played by Adrien Griener), Andy’s (Anne Hathaway) boyfriend, will not appear in the sequel. At the conclusion of The Devil Wears Prada, Nate and Andy reconciled, with Andy suggesting that she accompany him to Boston, where he was set to begin his new job as the restaurant chef.

The continuation will feature the comeback of the original ensemble, such as Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, in addition to director David Frankel and producer Wendy Finerman. According to Deadline, Kenneth Branagh will be joining the cast as a fresh addition.

Kenneth will portray the role of Miranda Priestly’s spouse in the follow-up. In the initial movie, Miranda had an important moment when she disclosed that her third spouse had requested a divorce. The moment was the only instance in the film where Miranda lowers her defenses in front of Andy, exposing a sensitive aspect of her typically frosty demeanor. Meryl Streep played the role of Miranda Priestly, the influential editor-in-chief of the imaginary Runway magazine.

The movie concluded with Andy choosing to resign from her job and donating all her Paris week outfits to Emily. The initial film was inspired by Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel about a young woman’s difficult ordeal at a fashion magazine. The movie achieved significant financial success, generating $326.7 million globally. The movie earned Meryl a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy.
