A tragic road accident in Noida’s Sector 30 on Saturday night claimed the life of a five-year-old girl and left her father and uncle critically injured. The incident occurred when a speeding BMW rammed into their scooter near Gate 3 as they were returning from the hospital.
The girl, identified as Aayat, had been taken to the Post Graduate Institute of Child Health for treatment after falling ill. Her father, Gul Mohammad, and uncle, Raja, were escorting her back home when the luxury car, allegedly coming from the wrong direction, crashed into their two-wheeler. Aayat died on the spot, while the two men sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Police acted swiftly, using the car’s registration details to trace and seize the BMW. Two men—Yash Sharma (22), a resident of Sector 37, and Abhishek Rawat of Sector 70—were arrested. Sharma, who was allegedly behind the wheel, is being questioned to determine if drunk driving or reckless behavior was involved.
An FIR has been registered at Sector 20 Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for rash driving, endangering life, and causing death due to negligence.
The fatal crash has sparked renewed public concern over road safety and enforcement of traffic rules in Noida. Residents are demanding stricter regulations and swifter punishment for offenders. The accident follows another scooter-related fatality in Greater Noida just a day earlier, highlighting the urgent need for safer roads.
