LOHUM’s new Research & Innovation Center inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of State – Shri Satish Chandra Dubey

   Greater Noida, August 20, 2025: Today, UP based innovator LOHUM, India’s largest diversified producer of sustainable critical minerals and among the largest globally outside China, launched its new Research & Innovation Center in Greater Noida. The center was inaugurated by Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Hon’ble Minister of State in the Ministry of Mines and Ministry of Coal. The company is also headquartered in Uttar Pradesh, and hosts a large share of its production facilities in the state.

The new innovation center is strategically aligned with the Government of India’s National Critical Mineral Mission to advance research and innovation in a value chain vital for the country’s economy, energy security, and technological leadership. This marks a major step forward by Lohum to strengthen India’s critical minerals reserves, in light of the rare earth element supply crisis currently faced by Indian industry.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hon’ble Minister of State in the Ministry of Mines and Ministry of Coal – Shri Satish Chandra Dubey said, “The Government is committed to promoting innovation in the field of critical minerals, and Lohum’s new Research & Innovation Center is a commendable step in that direction. It will play a pivotal role in accelerating India’s transition towards mineral independence and sustainable energy.”

Driving Innovation in Critical Minerals

At the facility, Lohum’s scientists are conducting advanced research on 15 of the 27 critical minerals identified by the Government of India, including cobalt, nickel, lithium, graphite, aluminium, copper, and rare earth elements.

The center houses a range of specialized laboratories, including:

  • Membrane Lab
  • Coin Cell Lab
  • Carbon Lab
  • Nickel-Lithium-Cobalt Lab

With a 60,000 sq. ft. innovation hub, Lohum invests 5% of its annual revenue and 10% of its total workforce into R&D. Its team of 100+ dedicated scientists has been instrumental in expanding knowledge frontiers and delivering market-ready solutions for a circular economy of critical minerals.
