Dubai, September 29, 2025: India emerged victorious in a thrilling Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan, securing their ninth title with a five-wicket win at Dubai International Stadium. Chasing a modest target of 147, India overcame early setbacks to cross the finish line with just two balls to spare in a tense encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Pakistan’s innings began confidently, reaching 113 for the loss of just one wicket. However, the middle and lower order collapsed dramatically, losing nine wickets for just 33 runs. Pakistan was eventually bowled out for 146 in 19.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav led India’s bowling attack with a remarkable 4-wicket haul for 30 runs, supported effectively by Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel, who picked up two wickets each, ensuring India restricted Pakistan to a manageable total.

India’s chase started shakily, with the top order losing three wickets for just 20 runs. However, Tilak Varma anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, while Shivam Dube contributed a quick 33 off 22 balls. Their crucial 60-run partnership for the fifth wicket turned the tide, allowing India to chase down the target and lift the coveted trophy.

The post-match presentation, however, was overshadowed by controversy. Indian players refused to accept the trophy and medals from Asian Cricket Council President Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The decision came amid rising political tensions between the two nations, resulting in the ceremony being delayed and eventually called off. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav expressed disappointment over the situation, praising his team’s focus and unity throughout the tournament.

This victory marks India’s third consecutive win over Pakistan in Asia Cup encounters, reinforcing their dominance in the tournament’s history. While the match showcased India’s resilience and skill under pressure, the post-match incident highlighted the complex dynamics that often accompany sporting encounters between the two countries.

Final Scores:

Pakistan: 146 all out (19.1 overs)

India: 150/5 (19.4 overs)
