The thrilling encounter on October 8 saw Kolkata clinch a 3–1 victory (12–15, 15–13, 15–6, 19–17) to register their first win of the season.

The match showcased the Thunderbolts’ trademark fighting spirit. After dropping the opening set, they regrouped impressively, with Pankaj Sharma emerging as the Player of the Match for his consistent attacking brilliance. Captain Ashwal Rai led from the front, delivering crucial spikes and inspiring the team with his leadership. This victory came after Kolkata’s narrow defeat to the Bengaluru Torpedoes in their opening match on October 5, where they lost 1–3 (11–15, 15–13, 15–11, 15–11) despite a strong showing from Sharma.
