The actor, last seen in the 2015 film Katti Batti, is set to feature in Happy Patel, a new quirky spy film that will mark comedian Vir Das’s directorial debut.

The project is already generating significant buzz due to its high-profile creative team, which features a reunion of the makers behind the cult hit Delhi Belly (2011). Happy Patel is being produced by Aamir Khan and stars Vir Das and Mona Singh in the lead roles.

Imran Khan’s appearance was revealed in a brief, blink-and-you-miss-it cameo at the end of the film’s announcement video. The shot, which shows the actor sporting long tresses and an intense, “menacing” look, was quickly shared across social media platforms by ecstatic fans.

The collaboration has been widely dubbed the “Delhi Belly reunion,” referencing the highly successful 2011 film which starred Imran Khan, was co-written and featured Vir Das, and was produced by Aamir Khan. Fans expressed their joy on social media, with many praising Imran for choosing a non-traditional, fun project for his comeback rather than a typical “loverboy” role. Vir Das even playfully tweeted about the surprise, feigning ignorance of his former co-star’s inclusion.

Happy Patel, which is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, stars Vir Das and Mona Singh and is scheduled to release in theatres on January 16, 2026.
