Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the media at Parliament House ahead of the commencement of the Winter Session, outlining the government’s expectations and the significance of the upcoming legislative period. The Winter Session of Parliament, scheduled from 1 December to 19 December 2025, will include a series of key discussions and legislative actions aimed at strengthening governance and accelerating national development.

In his address, the Prime Minister emphasised that the session should be marked by meaningful debate, constructive engagement, and a shared commitment to national interest. He reiterated that Parliament is not merely a forum for routine proceedings but a vital institution for shaping policies that directly impact the lives of citizens. He encouraged all Members of Parliament to contribute actively and responsibly, particularly urging that first-time MPs be given ample opportunities to express their views.

Reflecting on the recent Assembly elections, the Prime Minister noted the enthusiastic participation of voters, especially women, as a strong reaffirmation of India’s democratic vibrancy. He stated that the faith and energy demonstrated by citizens must inspire Parliament to function with greater accountability and productivity.

The Prime Minister called upon all political parties to rise above partisan differences, stating that “Parliament must focus on delivery, not disruption; policy, not theatrics.” He urged the Opposition to engage wholeheartedly in debate and fulfil its role with dignity and responsibility.

He also welcomed the newly appointed Chairman of the Upper House, expressing confidence that his leadership would further enhance the quality of parliamentary functioning.

With an anticipated agenda covering economic reforms, national security, agriculture, infrastructure development, and social welfare, the government is committed to ensuring that this Winter Session results in impactful decisions that advance India’s progress.
