Shafali Verma was named ICC Player of the Month, although no Indian was shortlisted for the men’s title.

The Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month shortlists for December 2025 have been revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), honoring a variety of exceptional performances that concluded the year. There is no Indian representation among the men’s nominees, despite India’s substantial presence in the women’s list thanks to Shafali Verma.

Shafali Verma, the opener for India, is at the top of the women’s shortlist following a commanding performance in a 5-0 T20I series victory against Sri Lanka. Shafali scored three straight half-centuries while amassing 241 runs at an incredible average of 80.33 and a strike rate of 181.20. India achieved their highest-ever T20I total thanks to her fluid 79 in the fourth T20I, which was part of a record-breaking opening stand.

With a successful series against Ireland in 2025, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt maintained her remarkable streak. Wolvaardt finished the 3-0 series with 255 runs at an average of 127.5 after hitting consecutive ODI hundreds. She continued to play well in the Twenty20 Internationals, hitting an undefeated 115 at a strike rate of 205.35.

Wolvaardt’s partner Sune Luus, who gave strong all-around performances in both forms, completes the women’s shortlist. In the ODIs, Luus scored 205 runs at an average of 102.5, including a century. In the T20I series, he added an additional 118 runs as South Africa defeated Ireland in two straight whitewashes.

Mitchell Starc, an Australian fast bowler, Jacob Duffy, a seamer from New Zealand, and Justin Greaves, an all-rounder from the West Indies, are at the top of the men’s shortlist.Greaves scored 283 runs at an average of 56.60 during the West Indies tour of New Zealand, leaving a lasting impact. His best performance occurred during the first Test in Christchurch, where he saved the match with an incredible undefeated double century of 202 in the fourth innings.

After leading New Zealand to a 2-0 series victory against the West Indies, Duffy had a breakout month. He won Player of the Series after taking 23 wickets at a stellar average of 15.43.

Veteran bowler Starc, whose efforts were crucial to Australia’s victorious Ashes campaign, completes the list. In three Test matches, he amassed 139 runs while taking 16 wickets. His Player of the Match performance in the second Test, which featured a crucial 77 with the bat and six wickets for 75 runs, stood out as a pivotal point in the series, and his performances in Adelaide helped Australia win the trophy.
