RPF & GRPS Apprehend Three Suspects at Panskura; Lost Mobile Phone Returned to Owner

Kharagpur : The Railway Protection Force (RPF) under Kharagpur Division continues its vigilant efforts to ensure passenger safety and prevent crime in railway premises and trains. Two significant incidents were reported on 18.02.2026. On 18.02.2026, during joint patrolling and checking at Panskura station by RPF/Panskura and GRPS/Panskura, three suspicious persons were noticed running on Platform No. 05 from Kharagpur end towards Howrah side, each carrying a backpack. Sensing foul play, the team immediately chased them and successfully apprehended the trio near Chachiyara Level Crossing Gate after a chase of approximately 2 km.
Upon checking their bags, gold ornaments (approx. 25 grams), silver ornaments (approx. 221 grams), cash amounting to ₹4,950/-, house-breaking tools (cutter, screwdriver, iron chisel), and three Android mobile phones were recovered (Value approx.- 4,15,000/-). During interrogation, the accused admitted to committing theft from a house near Panskura Bus Stand. GRPS/Panskura registered Case under relevant sections of BNS. Further investigation is in progress.
In a separate incident on the same day, a Realme mobile phone was found abandoned in Coach No. B-2 of Train No. 12802. Acting promptly, RPF traced the owner, Mr. Tejpal Singh, who had accidentally dropped the phone during his journey. After proper verification, the mobile phone (approximate value ₹21,000/-) was handed over to him at RPF Post/Baleshwar. The owner expressed gratitude for the prompt assistance rendered by RPF.
