
SATSA Marks Platinum Jubilee with 75th General Meeting, Honours Women Farmers with ‘Krishi Ananya’ Awards

Buddhadeb Misra : The State Agricultural Technologists Service Association (SATSA), the premier body representing agricultural officers and scientists of the West Bengal Department of Agriculture, held its 75th General Meeting on February 7, 2026, at Dhandhanya Auditorium, Alipore, Kolkata. Founded in 1951, the organization marked its platinum jubilee with a focus on inclusive agricultural development and farmer empowerment. As part of its social responsibility initiatives aligned with International Women Farmers Year 2026, SATSA presented the “Krishi Ananya” awards to five outstanding women farmers and farmer groups from different districts of the state, recognizing their innovation and contribution to grassroots agriculture. The association highlighted the growing role of women in strengthening farm productivity and rural livelihoods. SATSA also announced a year-long capacity-building drive to train 3,000 women farmers across West Bengal. So far, around 1,000 women farmers have already received
technical and skill-based training through district-level programmes, with more sessions planned in the coming months.

Governor Felicitates NCC Cadets for RDC 2026 Excellence

Buddhadeb Misra : The Honourable Governor of West Bengal, Dr C.V. Ananda Bose, felicitated outstanding NCC cadets of the West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan. The event was attended by Major General Amarpal Singh Chahal, ADG NCC (WB & Sikkim), senior officers and
dignitaries.
The Governor presented Governor’s Medals to 55 cadets from the Army, Navy and Air Force wings for excellence in training, leadership and community service. Trophies and banners were also awarded to the Best Army, Navy and Air Force Units and the Best Group for overall performance.
He praised the directorate’s impressive showing at Republic Day Camp 2026. Cadet Sergeant Priti Sharma was named Best Air Force Cadet (Senior Wing) among 17 directorates, while the RDC contingent won the Best Line Area Trophy. The Governor highlighted NCC’s vital role in youth leadership and nation-building.
