Kolkata:
In a significant move aimed at deepening the participation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in India’s capital markets, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced plans to expand its SME IPO awareness initiatives beyond metropolitan cities. The regulator will now actively engage with entrepreneurs in Tier-2 and Tier-3 industrial clusters to promote inclusive capital market growth.
Addressing stakeholders, Jeevan Sonparote, Executive Director of SEBI, stated that the regulator aims to bridge the gap between SMEs, stock exchanges, and listed companies by strengthening outreach efforts in emerging business hubs. He emphasized that the initiative is designed not only to increase listings but also to build long-term capacity among enterprises
