Amid continuing speculation over a possible leadership change in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar on Tuesday asserted that there is no need for any “revolution” within the party and said that time will determine who occupies the Chief Minister’s chair.

Addressing reporters, Shivakumar made it clear that he has not demanded a change in leadership and has no intention of destabilising the government. He emphasised that any decision regarding the top post rests with the party’s central leadership and should not be the subject of public debate. “There is no need for any upheaval. Time will decide everything,” he said, signalling patience amid renewed political chatter.

The remarks come against the backdrop of ongoing speculation about a possible power-sharing arrangement between Shivakumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, an issue that has surfaced periodically since the Congress formed the government in the state. However, Shivakumar sought to downplay such discussions, reiterating that internal matters are handled within the party framework and not through public statements.

He underlined his commitment to party unity, stating that he has always worked to strengthen the organisation rather than create divisions. As state president of the Indian National Congress, Shivakumar said his focus remains on consolidating the party and ensuring effective governance. He added that leadership transitions, if any, would be guided by the high command and broader political considerations.

Shivakumar also dismissed suggestions of internal pressure tactics, asserting that he does not believe in blackmail or confrontation to secure positions. Stressing discipline and collective responsibility, he maintained that the government is functioning smoothly and remains focused on delivering on its promises to the people.
