Indian rapper and music producer Badshah has issued a public apology after his recently released Haryanvi song Tateeree sparked controversy and legal complaints. The track faced severe criticism from several groups who alleged that its lyrics and visuals contained objectionable content and portrayed women in an inappropriate manner. Following the backlash, the singer removed the song from all major digital platforms.

The controversy began shortly after the release of Tateeree, when some viewers and activists objected to the music video’s depiction of girls wearing school uniforms in scenes they considered offensive. Critics claimed that the visuals and lyrics were insensitive and could send a wrong message, especially to younger audiences. As the criticism intensified, complaints were filed against the rapper in Haryana, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).

The matter also drew the attention of the Haryana State Commission for Women, which took cognisance of the issue and sought clarification regarding the song’s content. The commission expressed concerns that the lyrics and video might promote indecent representation of women. Officials asked the rapper to respond to the allegations and explain the intent behind the controversial track.

Amid the growing outrage, Badshah released a video statement on social media addressing the issue. In his message, he apologised to anyone who felt hurt or offended by the song. He stated that hurting sentiments was never his intention and requested people to forgive him. The rapper also highlighted his connection with his home state, describing himself as a proud son of Haryana while appealing for understanding and compassion from the public. To prevent further controversy, Badshah confirmed that Tateeree had been removed from streaming platforms and video-sharing websites.
