Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly been injured during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East but remains safe, according to a statement by the son of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The update was shared by Yousef Pezeshkian, who said he had sought confirmation about reports claiming that Khamenei was wounded amid the intensifying military confrontation involving Iran, the United States and Israel. In a social media post, he said he had contacted individuals close to the leadership and was informed that the Iranian leader had suffered injuries but was safe and in stable condition.

Speculation about the health and whereabouts of Mojtaba Khamenei had been growing after he had not been seen in public since the escalation of hostilities. The uncertainty intensified following reports that he may have been injured during the same airstrike that killed his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Ali Khamenei was killed earlier this month during airstrikes targeting key locations in Tehran amid rising tensions in the region. Following his death, Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the role of Iran’s Supreme Leader, marking a significant transition in the country’s leadership during a period of conflict and instability. According to reports, Mojtaba Khamenei sustained injuries to parts of his body during the attack but managed to survive. Iranian officials have described him as wounded but capable of continuing to perform his duties. They emphasised that the injuries are not life-threatening and that he remains involved in directing the country’s political and strategic decisions.

The leadership change has drawn global attention, particularly because the transition effectively placed power in the hands of the former leader’s son. Analysts say the development represents a notable moment in Iran’s political history, as it reflects a rare instance where the country’s highest authority has passed within the same family. As the conflict in the region continues, the health and leadership of Mojtaba Khamenei remain closely watched by international observers. Iranian officials have maintained that despite the injuries, the Supreme Leader remains secure and continues to guide the country through the ongoing crisis.
