There is a battle of misinformation on social media going on concurrently with the real conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran. Explosive Media has become a sort of winner in this conflict. This group, which is most likely connected to Iran and employs Iranian content producers, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to produce Lego films that disparage Donald Trump and forward the Iranian agenda. YouTube has now banned the channel.

Explosive Media announced on Friday that YouTube had stopped their channel, purportedly because the Lego movies contained “violent content.” The latest video from Explosive Media, which discusses Donald Trump and his purported link to the Epstein Files through a rap song, had millions of views on social media just hours before the YouTube suspension.

“Our YouTube channel just got taken down again for violent content. Seriously! are our LEGO-style animations actually violent,” Explosive Media asked on X.

Why YouTube could have deemed the Explosive Media to be “violent” is unclear. Because of their Lego-style animations, they do not come across as very violent, even though they do portray the war and strife given that they are discussing the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Nevertheless, whether or not they are officially sanctioned, they are a component of Iranian propaganda.

Additionally, it’s probable that YouTube removed them due to the films’ promotion of an unfounded narrative. Iran had claimed earlier in the conflict that tech firms such as Google, which owns YouTube, and Oracle were assisting the US government in some way. Iran even threatened to attack data centers and tech offices at one point.

The Lego videos remain available on other social media platforms. These videos, which are well-scripted and sophisticated, have gained millions of views across mainstream platforms including X, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and more. They are so popular that Explosive Media has been covered by some top media organisations

Earlier Moustafa Ayad, a researcher with the Institute of Strategic Dialogue, told Wired, “They’re making it easily accessible to understand the conflict from Iran’s point of view, and it’s hitting on points of disaffection in the United States at the same time. It’s working on two fronts.”
