MCCI Hosts Special Session on Heart Health & CPR Awareness

The Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), in collaboration with Manipal
Hospitals, organised a special session on “Healthy Heart – How to Save It in Case of Crisis,
with CPR Support System” on 24 March 2026 at the MCCI Conference Hall.The programme
featured Dr. P. K. Hazra, Director & Head Cardiology Specialist, who shared key insights on
heart health, lifestyle management, and emergency response. He emphasized that obesity,
diabetes, and high cholesterol significantly increase heart risks, while regular exercise and a
healthy lifestyle can prevent major cardiac issues.
A key highlight was the Basic Life Support (BLS) training, including hands-on CPR practice on
mannequins and Compression-only Life Support (COLS) techniques for laypersons.
Certificates were awarded to participants.Dr. Hazra also highlighted advancements in cardiac
care, noting India’s growing role in MedTech and heart valve manufacturing.Earlier, Chairman
Rajendra Khandelwal stressed that up to 80% of heart diseases can be prevented through
lifestyle changes. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Anil Kumar Malawat- Co-
