Press Conference regarding the appeal to Non-Resident Bengalis
Buddhadeb Misra/ 20th April 2026

Today, at the State BJP Salt Lake office, a press conference was addressed by State President and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Samik Bhattacharya. He was accompanied by Non-Resident Bengalis who seek change in the state.
At the beginning of his address, Shri Samik Bhattacharya stated that the Bengali diaspora spread across the country, who share an emotional bond with West Bengal, who wish to invest in Bengal, and who desire a change in the current situation of the state, are all directly and indirectly involved in this election. Shri Yudhajit Sen Majumdar, Secretary of Overseas Friends of BJP, was also present at the press conference.
Shri Yudhajit Sen Majumdar, in his remarks, said that this election is not a conventional one. Considering the decline that Bengal has witnessed over the past 34 years and then the last 15 years, if change does not happen now, there will be no scope for recovery for West Bengal. He stated that we are standing at a turning point. He added that nationalist Bengalis across the world are seeking this change. If West Bengal does not survive in its true form, the identity of Bengalis will be at risk.
He further mentioned that Bengalis across the globe have seen how, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Indian passport has reached new heights globally. However, the concern remains about how far Bengal has declined. He emphasized that this is the right time to bring the BJP government, currently leading at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to power in the state as well.
He concluded by stating that Bengalis across the world are willing to invest, do business, and work in areas like artificial intelligence in West Bengal. However, they lack confidence until a new government comes to power. Therefore, change is inevitable.
