Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius in Berlin on April 22, 2026, reinforcing the growing strategic defence partnership between the two nations.
During the meeting, India and Germany signed a Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap along with an Implementing Arrangement for cooperation in UN Peacekeeping training. The discussions focused on co-development and co-production of defence equipment, particularly in niche and advanced technologies, while also strengthening military-to-military engagement.

Rajnath Singh described the visit as a reflection of deep trust and synergy, noting the significant progress in defence ties in recent years. Both sides agreed to leverage the European Union security framework to enhance regional stability and joint capabilities.

Highlighting global concerns, Singh stressed that terrorism in all its forms must be condemned unequivocally. He also welcomed Germany’s continued engagement, including participation in the upcoming Ex-TARANG SHAKTI air exercise in India.

The visit included a ceremonial Guard of Honour and a wreath-laying at the Bundeswehr Memorial, honouring fallen soldiers. The engagement comes as India and Germany celebrate 25 years of strategic partnership and 75 years of diplomatic relations, reflecting a robust and multifaceted alliance.
