3 BJP Workers Attacked Near Riverbank; Motorcycle Set on Fire in Nayagram

Nayagram, West Bengal : Tension gripped in the Chorchita area of the Nayagram Assembly constituency after three BJP workers were allegedly attacked while walking along the banks of the Subarnarekha River, local sources said.
According to reports, four BJP workers were strolling near the riverbank in Chorchita when a local miscreant allegedly blocked their path and suddenly attacked them. Before they could understand what was happening, three of the four were reportedly singled out and severely beaten. Eyewitnesses alleged that the violence did not stop with the physical assault. The attackers also vandalized the BJP workers’ motorcycle and later set it on fire, further escalating tensions in the locality. One of the injured, identified as Shobhan Mandi, suffered a severed finger in the attack. He was rescued from the spot and rushed to the Tapasya Block Health Centre, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The BJP has accused local miscreants linked to the Trinamool Congress of being behind the incident. However, no official confirmation regarding the identity of the attackers has yet been made.
Police have intensified patrolling in the area following the attack. As of now, the accused are still absconding, and an investigation is underway.
The incident has triggered significant political tension in the region, with local residents closely watching developments.
